  • I have never been so poorly treated by a manager of an establishment than I was here today. My husband went to pick us up coffee and donuts as a little treat and when he got them home, most of them (especially the chocolate glazed ones) tasted distinctly of ashes or something burned. I called the store 6 times in a row and no one answered. At this point I figured the only option was to return to the store. I walked in and asked to please speak with a manager. The manager came up to me and I said "hello, how are you" to which he just said "what's wrong?". I attempted to explain about the bad tasting donuts and made the observation that they were a little smashed in the box. At this point he jumped ugly so fast I could barely finish my sentence and explain about the bad taste. He started saying "well the smashed donuts are your husbands fault and I know because I handed it to him so don't go blaming me"...okay...so the smashed donuts weren't really the problem here but what manager yells at a customer before fully hearing them out? I tried again to explain about the taste issue and he grabbed the box of donuts from me and threw them in the trash and said "so what do you want?". At this time I was really upset for being talked to in such a way that I said "can I please have my money back...I am really offended that you wouldn't listen to me". And he went on to continue yelling at me about the fact that he's been a manager for a long time and knows what he's doing and I'm in the wrong somehow. Then turned to the next costumer in line and said "ma'am, did YOU see me do anything wrong to this woman? Yeah...because I didn't" to which this next poor customer looked shocked and probably felt really awkward. Then I offered him the credit card I used to buy the donuts and he yelled again "well maybe you should have told me you had the credit card before we started this" and threw a wad of cash at me like I should have had their returns policy memorized. I was honestly so shocked and apalled. I'm a pretty nice person and very calm and reasonable. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and allow them to fix a mistake or maybe just warn them about some bad tasting food so the next customers don't have the same issue. I said thank you and told him to have a nice day but I will not be visiting this store or probably any other dunkin in the future. And that's sad for them because my husband and I go there multiple times a week. My warning for other patrons is just to be wary of their manager. He might give you your money back but he'll yell at you the whole time and make you feel terrible.
