I attended a wedding over the weekend at this brand new venue. Apparently it's been opened since April of this year but there still a lot of simple things that I as an attendee noticed were unacceptable and would horrify me if I was the bride.
The wedding I attended was in Room A it was a medium/large sized room that had the divider in place for the ceremony and then opened up for the dinner and a nice porch behind it. The bride and groom wanted very much to take group photos but as the guests were waiting their turn, we were told to leave because they needed to set up the room for dinner and therefore the photos didn't get finished because there was nowhere else to take them (especially on a cold, wet day).
Some other issues:
1. Lack of signage: there were several weddings that day and upon walking into the building, the estate should have made some signs to help guide guests.
2. Food servings were disproportionate: some people received double the portion of pasta compared to others or bits of biscotti in their creme brulee versus others had half a bar. My biscotti was also stale.
3. Unprofessional: during cocktail hour, the staff were moving dishes and tables in between guests as we were trying to enjoy the time between the ceremony and the reception outside of the main room.
4. Poor sound system: the microphones and speakers, either one or both made it very difficult to hear what people were saying. Other times music was still playing while someone was trying to talk.
5. Improper cutlery: 90% of us had steaks and not one of us had a steak knife. I'm really not that graceful when I'm trying to cut steak with a butter knife and shaking the whole table.
The wedding was great, but the venue needs some work as hosts.
