| - After many months, Red Sea has finally opened in its new location. Sadly, for some reason, they do not have a liquor license (as of 12/13/16) so the only drink options are: water, soft drinks, coffee or tea. I was so excited to try the Tej (honey wine, or mead), so I was very disappointed. Given how long it took for Red Sea to open in this location, it is possible that it will be many more months before they have a liquor license.
As other reviewers have noted, the injera is springy and tasty and our entrees were good. I ordered the chicken tibs and my partner ordered lamb tibs. While I'm happy that Red Sea now has more space, the new restaurant is low on charm or character. The lighting is bright-bordering-on-harsh, and the decor consists of some baskets strewn about that are meant to suggest "Ethiopian." The music that was played soundd like Muzak - how about playing Ethiopian music, instead?
It would be nice if the decor inside was more colorful, and the lighting more subdued. The building was clearly a seafood restaurant in a former life (there is a tacky anchor painted on the building's exterior), and the interior still feels like it may have been a Red Lobster (or something less 'prestigious'). It felt like a cafeteria - not especially relaxing for evening dining.
So...I highly recommend the food, but urge Red Sea to make cosmetic improvments that make it feel less like Red Lobster and more like an authentic Ethiopian restaurant.
