| - I've lived in Las Vegas since 1998 and think I must have been to the Riviera Hotel/Casino once when I first moved here, but remember nothing about why or if I had a meal here.
I'm likely leaving Las Vegas soon, and decided to try it since I heard it's closing soon.(May 4) and I have some time off this week.
I used their self parking entrance from the Strip and the signage is more than a little confusing, but I did find a space finally. The parking area needs lots of "sprucing up" but since it's closing soon, I guess that's not gonna happen.
I was way past my lunch time so I went to the Wicked Vicky Tavern and ordered some Fish and Chips, which were actually good with very nice "chips". They had Malt Vinegar which for me is mandatory for your fish and chips. The bill came to $17.43 and I gave her my credit card and left $3.00 in cash as a tip, which I guess wasn't quite 20%. This morning, I notice an authorization for $21.43 on my debit card, so I will watch to make sure they don't bill me that full amount. $4.00 is $4.00:)
I was one of about 4-5 people in there, with a huge TV screen with the sound turned off on the Golf Channel. Who knew there was such a channel? Not me. It was almost amusing to watch these "golfers" and the talking heads, describing a game that you have to really be into, I guess.
The whole casino is pretty darn sad looking, with many slots out of service or blocked off. There appeared to be people checking in so it must have it's fans. I played my requisite $5.00 in penny slots and walked out with $8.50, so "score" for me.
Best of luck to the Riviera employees. I hope your employer is able to help you with severance or placement services.
