  • I went in for an eye exam because my insurance covered the exam, and a pair of glasses with lenses from a specific set. They also informed me that this place carried that specific set, and I've gone through the process of choosing from these before. My eye exam was great. The place was clean, the optician was friendly, and helped me change contact lenses to dailies, which would be much more convenient for me. However, when the session ended I was taken to pick out glasses. I was told to pick something from the wall, because my insurance only covered $60 worth of the frames. Confused, I walked around looking for the absolute cheapest glasses because there was no way I had that kind of money. One of the receptionists came over and tried helping me, and I told her I wanted the absolute cheapest pair because I didn't have $300 to spend on glasses. She then told me that even if I picked the cheapest pair (around $150), I'd still have to pay for lenses, which was another $120. At that point I told her that my insurance said I would be able to get lenses and frames for free. She disappeared behind the counter, came back, and said "Oh, you're right. I didn't see your insurance." Okay. That's fine. So she came back out and I picked out my frames, and she started to put the order in. She needed help three times while placing the order, which is also fine. She was probably new and I could accept that. However, I was given trial contact lenses listing my prescription. I did not have a paper copy of my prescription when I came back a week later so I asked for it. The glasses I picked up that day made me incredibly dizzy. I have been wearing glasses for 6 years, and it's never been this back. I had to take them off because the were making me nauseous. When I got home the prescription of my glasses didn't match the contacts. One eye was .25 off, and the glasses corrected for astigmatism. Now, nobody has ever told me that I have astigmatism, and I was not informed of it. Maybe I'm crazy, but I feel like that is something you should tell people. When I called to complain that my glasses were not okay, and had different prescriptions, that same receptionist answered the phone. I told her my prescriptions didn't match, and she said contact prescriptions were usually different because they "sit closer on your eye". 6 years, this hasn't come up. They've always been the same. Whatever. I'll accept that. So I told her I was pretty sure the glasses prescription was wrong, and I told he about the nausea. She completely dismissed my concerns, and told me I had to wait a week and see how they feel before I come back. I told her there was no way I was wearing these for a week, because I was way too nauseous, and she completely dismissed me. If she hadn't have asked for help multiple times when she was ordering the glasses, I might feel differently, but I'm almost positive that she messed up my order. I ended up just tossing the glasses because I didn't want to waste my time dealing with he anymore, and got a cheapo pair online that matched my contact prescription. They work perfectly, no nausea, almost no discomfort when switching. This place was an enormous waste of time. I'll probably do my eye exam there but have to buy glasses elsewhere because the pair they made for me was garbage.
