i had a friend visiting from Singapore recently who wanted to know where to stay in Toronto. I sent him a few suggestions right downtown so it would be easy for me to show him around (first time to Toronto!) and also easy for me to get there on my bike.
He chose the Novotel, the location is great. So close to everything. Easy to get to by car (Lakeshore/Gardner is right there so it was quick to and from Pearson), by bike, and also by TTC (right in between Union and King subway stations and super close to the King streetcar).
When he arrived he sent me the phone number to call him at the hotel and i got "Welcome to the Novotel North York... " DISASTER! I told him he HAD to get them to change his reservation to downtown. They did :) Phewf... disaster averted.
I rode my bike to meet him but had no where to lock it up. The staff were really nice and told me to bring my bike right inside and they locked it up in a back room for me, nice and safe for overnight.
The room was standard, with a nice big fluffy bed and clean spacious bathroom. I forgot my toothbrush so they brought one up for me. We drank some wine and ate some cheese and they also brought us up a corkscrew and sharp knife. They didn't seem the happiest about it, but service was still fast. We stayed 3 nights and requested the late check out. My friend went to the gym a few times and said it was fine. I didn't have a problem with the wifi and used it the whole weekend.
I'll recommend it again :)
