  • Our family joined just as the facility opened in 2010. At the time, we were excited about the services the facility offered, including childcare and the ranges of equipment, pool hours and classes that Lifetime offers. The hours are great, and equipment is always readily available. That said... This is why we've not given it a higher rating (and why we are leaving this month): 1. Men's Locker Room: Within the past 2 years, it has been difficult for my husband to find an available locker. Several times he has complained to the facility that members are using temporary keys to maintain "private personal lockers." The facility has continued to promise they will resolve the situation by installing a few lockers that do not require physical keys. Ha ha. Why not the whole locker room? Lockers are still being abused and he often cannot find space to change. 2. $10 administration fees for any account changes. This grates as tenured members and paying $160/month to be here. Really?!? This included charging us when our daughter turned 12 to add her as an adult to our account - when she was already on our account as a family member. No exceptions, folks, this is about making money. 3. Good luck if you have any service or account issues. Customer service here tends toward non-responsive or indifferent. They are corporate and they show it. I recently accidentally dropped my membership card down the elliptical machine and was told that I'd have to pay for a new card. This is their facility and their machines, and I have to pay... Okay... 4. Yoga: The classes initially were great, with great teachers... Until they moved classes from the "regular" classrooms into the yoga studio and decided to present their own "brand" of yoga. Cramped quarters, dangerous moves, and a loud room for class doesn't make this yoga. As a yoga instructor, I was horrified to see people flipping over each other, and doing incredibly complicated moves (like headstands) without proper supervision. This turned into a workout class with liability written all over it. 5. Locker Room Selfies: Yes, you got it. There are signs in the locker rooms clearly stating that no photos are to be taken in locker rooms, and of course for obvious reasons. Countless times, I'm running into narcissistic individuals determined to show their muscles, cleavage, whatever, while I'm trying to towel down from a shower. Really people? This is unacceptable behavior that is being tolerated by this facility and a violation of my privacy and those around me. Lifetime, you can do better. All this while the membership rates continue to skyrocket (we started at $100/month and it's climbed 50% in 6 years). This facility used to be so crowded that they needed valet service (irony for a gym). Now the parking lot always has available spaces. If you want variety and accessible equipment, great. If you ever have a customer service issue, good luck.
