As a new patient to the practice it has been a terrible experience : ( . A friend referred me to Dr. Castro and I have been in the office 4 times and have still not seen her. Every time I go in it feels like the staff is herding cattle. I have had to wait more than an hour for three out of four visits.
I found it very awkward how the front desk staff yelled out into the waiting room for people to leave their samples of urine. As a new patient there was no direction as to where I was supposed to go or the process they follow in this office. I asked a girl at the check out desk and she seemed extremely irritated that I didn't know the process.
By the time I was taken into the exam room they realized they scheduled me for the wrong visit. They decided to just do an annual, which I was not due for, because that is what they put on the schedule and I would have to come back another day for my actual appointment. You can imagine I was frustrated as I had already been waiting an hour an a half.
After spending 30 minutes on the table with only a paper bib covering my chest and a paper sheet across my lap, I felt very exposed and emotionally exhausted about the confusion around my appointment needs.
I agreed to the annual visit as it would accomplish something for this appointment. Another nurse came in the room and explained the person I was working was a student who would be doing the exam. After the student finished she explained she would re-do the exam to check for accuracy. It's bad enough having it done once - but twice! I'm just not a fan of having anyone in my business. I was never asked if I was okay with this process or if I was okay with having a student train on me... I still never saw my doctor and still didn't have the appointment I had actually scheduled and confirmed.
They left in a rush and left a disgusting amount of gel to clean up on me, the table and the floor. It was really gross. I called my husband and told him I would never recommend this practice and would not be using them next year.
I had to go back in order to complete the reason for my first visit which was to change birth control methods. Now that this is done I am looking for a new doctor as we plan to have kids next year and I would like to know and trust the doctor who will help us through that journey. I would love any suggestions!
