  • After one visit, I think I'm sold. The moment you walk in the door, you're instantly welcomed into a very warm and inviting atmosphere. From the dark interior, to the long wooden benches and sectioned off seating, to the outdoor seating and full bar and delicious, unique, hearty food, the Cornish Pasty Company is beckoning me back for a drink with friends. They've got a good selection of draft beers, and an even larger selection of pasties from traditional options, to even vegetarian pasties. The staff were friendly and we got our food and drinks promptly so no problems on that front. I ordered the Oggie and my girlfriend got the Cottage Pie. Both came out fresh and hot with their red wine sauce on the side. The Oggie has highlights of sliced potatoes and chunks of tender steak. The Cottage Pie, the alternative to the Shepherd's Pie, had a good serving of mashed potatoes, peas, and well seasoned ground beef. While the red wine sauce was very good, the flavor palette fit the Oggie better as the steak had a nice roasted flavor, whereas the Cottage Pie was able to stand alone by itself. I would definitely recommend giving them a try with some friends. If you're anything like me, your food adventures have probably not lead you to home-cooked British food. As such, this was a breath of fresh air from the hoards of mediocre ethnic foods I've had to sift through to find the gems. That being said, their pasties are perfect for hearty drinking food, and they've certainly got a good enough selection to cover the latter. If I were to provide critique, I'd have liked some board games or possibly even Jenga to make the atmosphere even more conducive for a chill drinking night with friends. Hopefully, this wouldn't ruin the comfy and warm mood the Cornish Pasty Company has going for itself, as blaring TVs and obnoxious loud music certainly would. Although they only get a 4/5 for now, the loss of 1 star is merely because I'm a reserved critic. I definitely see myself coming back, and if my experience is as good as this time, they will easily earn that 5/5 no problem. Short Version: Warm, comfy, good beer selection, hearty food, vegetarian options, fair prices, a must eat!
