  • Buying a car at Earnhardt's is a crap shoot. My wife and I have bought three Jeep Grand Cherokees there over the years. Sometimes you are lucky to find a sales person who is knowledgeable and honest and is capable of closing the deal to everyone's satisfaction, although this is a rare bird. Sometimes you get the guy who is hanging on by his fingernails and will do or say anything to get you to sign the deal. Usually the aforementioned guy is backed up by the "numbers" guy, better known as the Closer, at least in our experience. The Closer is a three card monte type, slick, professional, good with numbers and an expert at understanding how much you are willing to pay. I have no problem with this guy. When all else fails, as it did during our last deal, we walked. The floor manager actually came out to our Jeep and knocked on the drivers window. After a 10 minute conversation in the parking lot we countered and they accepted our offer. I was impressed at how hard the manager worked to get my business. I just wish that we could have bypassed the obligatory dog and pony show we had to sit through with the junior varsity team. I don't think buying a car is supposed to be easy, this is a major financial transaction and as such you should be ready to walk out at the first opportunity should you not get the deal you wanted.
