  • I'm writing this review solely on the alcohol section of the store, which stands as its own building, with its own entrance, and its own checkouts, attached to the rest of the grocery store. Heck, just this building that houses the booze is the size of most regular grocery stores. If you are looking for beer, wine, or liquor in the Madison area, there is absolutely no better place to do it than here. I am a self-proclaimed amateur beer enthusiast, and walking in here is like a little kid walking downstairs on Christmas and seeing all of the presents under the tree. Not being from the state, there are sooo many things here that I just can't get in my city. While the rows and rows of beer options seem too good to be true, their build your own 6 pack section is where I make a beeline to. I don't know what the actual number is, but I think it is safe to say it is well over 100 individual bottles of beer in this BYO6P section. They are priced individually, but the best bet is to grab one of the boxes and fill it up with any combo of 6 beers for the low price of $9.99. This is definitely the best way to try the most beers, and to avoid buying a 6 pack of stuff you don't like and having to waste time drinking beer you won't enjoy. They also have the same mix-and-match 6 pack options with local breweries so you can get a 6 pack of different things from one brewery and the price was even cheaper. I think this is a better bet than buying the 12 packs that only have 4 different styles. I know I saw New Glarus and Capital Brewing sections with this setup. As noted in many other reviews, as a way to keep costs down they do not take credit cards (5 stars if they took credit). They have a lot of self-checkout lines, and a couple manned registers. The place can get pretty busy, especially with the small aisles. Keep an eye out their specials. They sometimes have things on clearance that are marked down to a ridiculously low price when they are just trying to get rid of inventory. They also have a lot of specials where if you buy a certain thing, you get something else free (mixer, glass, etc.). Basically, if you want to get a taste of Wisconsin through a variety of their beers, this is the number one stop that you need to make.
