| - After approximately 6 months of postponing a much needed trim and never finding a satisfying salon, a quick Google search led me to Balance Hair and Nail Studio.
I called the store to make my appointment about 2-3 hours prior to my scheduled time slot. I was greeted by who I believe was Michael, the General Manager (refer to their website for the team).
Fast forward a few hours - I actually ended up being about 5 minutes late but they were very accommodating. Note - they have one reserved parking spot directly behind their store, on the East side of Yonge. I was asked to fill out a sheet that would be my "profile". Don't be alarmed - this sheet does not ask for anything too personal rather, they want to know what YOU are looking for and perhaps, where their clients are coming from (business as per usual).
David, the stylist I was scheduled with, met with me soon after. Typically, I would go with a simple trim and retain the same hair style. However, I appreciated how David gave me suggestions and encouraged me to try something new. I felt like this portrayed the creativity and confidence of the salon's stylists, something I don't even see in senior stylists at other salons. I also liked how David would explain the products he used on my hair. In addition, he taught me how to tease my hair.
From beginning to end, I would like to say that this was the most pleasant experience I've had at any salon. Everyone I interacted with exerted a "warm attitude," if that makes sense. In particular, the ambiance was friendly and relaxing. I would see the staff members constantly cleaning and polishing up the place. I find it important to have a cohesive team in order to successfully serve clients, and my observations at Balance definitely showcased this.
