  • We were coming back from a Sedona road trip, and decided to check out the new 303 freeway that intersects with the I-17. It was new and we weren't familiar with route, so we went exploring and wound up on Bell Road, heading east. We were in the mood for Vietnamese food, and didn't think that Surprise had any good ones, and we found this place. And we were quite astonished. The decor was quite modern and somewhat elegant. The service was superb, and the other patrons were just extremely friendly. There isn't a lot of room here, and tables have a tendency to be situated rather closely to your neighbors. In fact, the group next to us kept asking us what we were eating so that they could order the same thing. We are fairly adroit in our Vietnamese food ordering so we partook of the standards as a matter of comparison. This means Goi Cuon (spring rolls), Thit Ga Xien (skewered chicken), Pho Tai (Steak in Noodle Soup / Broth), and Com Suon Nuong (Char Broiled Pork Chop in a Rice Plate). Our verdict (granted it is only our opinion) - it's good but too tame. In our experience, whenever we encounter Asian Fusion, it normally seems to entail neutering the dish so that it is less spicy. Again, just an opinion based on our experience. I had to add a lot of siracha sauce to bring it up to a spicier level, but you may have a different preference. Overall, its a good place. But, if you have friends that are Vietnamese food fans, they may be slightly disappointed with regard to the difference in the level of "spice and kick."
