Don't even bother.
Just stay home.
Went to ER at 3p on Friday. There wasn't an open seat, at least 30 people waiting. Most of them looked like vagrants, half were wearing masks.
After sitting there shell shocked for a few moments (because honestly, I felt like I'd walked into a foreign country) I started looking around trying to make eye contact with anyone who might be able to tell me how to check in...
Finally did, with a guy sitting behind a desk labeled "admitting" and he SLID down in his seat hiding behind his computer screen. Every so often he would glance around the screen and then quickly hide again.
Since no one else was available I finally walked towards his desk and asked where I could get some assistance. He asked what kind of assistance... Obviously, I answered with "emergency assistance". He pointed out at the waiting area and said "that's emergency" and slid lower in his chair.
I'm nervous that I'm having a heart attack. You think this is where I want to sit for the next 20 hours, possibly even die?
As I walked out, a woman said in passing "they are full here, you're not going to get any help from them,"... Clearly.
