I called him on Saturday evening and he scheduled a time for Sunday and showed up on time. I called him in the first place because of the 7 days/week service. That is the only good thing I can say.
When he called to say he was on the way he asked me to empty out the freezer section and the top shelf of the fridge side. When he got here he pulled the fridge out from the wall, took out one screw from the back panel and took a quick look and then replaced the screw, told me the compressor was bad and it would cost more to replace it ($900) than to buy a new fridge. He then charged me his $70 "diagnostic" fee and left.
Since then I called around and found out that a new compressor for my model is about a third of what Mike quoted.
I feel ripped off and am calling my credit card company to have the charge reversed.
Edit: Since posting this I have read the other reviews and spotted a couple of them that praised him for his "honesty" about something costing more to repair than to replace. I have to disagree. I felt that it was a scam to charge a quick $70 for five minutes of BS. He comes across well on the phone, but in person is another matter. I don't know if I would say rude, but not friendly.
