I caught A Henderson Taxi from McCarron Airport to the Convention Center yesterday.. The driver asked me if the Expressway was "OK" ... being from out of town I said "Yes".
Be warned this is a long-hauling scam. Through my iPhone my suspicions that I was being taken three sides of a square were confirmed. The fare was $32. When I complained to the Nevada Taxi Authority today I was told that because I'd said that the Expressway was OK there was nothing they could do. This is despite the fact that they acknowledged I'd been scammed and that taxi-drivers have been told not to use the Expressway for fares from the airport to the Convention Center.
They advised me to contact Henderson Taxi Co., who took my complaint and have promised to refund the difference between the "Taxifinder" fare of $21 and what I paid.
I'll be taking up the matter with the Nevada Taxi Authority to suggest they close this loophole whereby a driver can say "Expressway OK" and be in the clear, without ever mentioning that it's the longest, most expensive route!
