I was staying at the Ritz and I arrived rather late so I decided to eat at the restaurant on the property. I got a seat at the bar and I must say, they were the most comfortable bar stools I have ever encountered. The atmosphere was intimate and luxe.
The bartender was very friendly and helped me pick out a wine to enjoy as I am not that familiar with European wines. I was not wanting anything particularly heavy before bed but apparently heavy food is all you'll get here. I sort of let this affect my overall rating but only because I felt that some items were a bit misleading.
I got the herb salad and the half order of the gnocchi. The herb salad was delicious but the entire bottom of the salad was thick, creamy cheese. It was good but there was more cheese than salad! There was also an egg of some sort, I am guessing quail. The gnocchi was delicious but the "coral emulsion" is a very heavy cream sauce. For just those two items and two glasses of wine, my total was over $100. I know people don't go to a restaurant like this to dine cheaply but I guess I just felt that what I ate wasn't that amazing. It was tasty but definitely not something I'd rave about.
