| - I had passed by Dlish numerous times while walking around Queen West, but had never stopped in. After New Years I had put myself on a sugar detox, and had avoided sweets like the plague.
But Valentine's Day came around (or what I like to call...Forced Affections Day), and I had the hankering for a Red Velvet cupcake. So as a treat to me and my 2 fabulous roomies, I picked up a 6 pack of cupcakes to gorge on for this Hallmark holiday.
I picked up 3 red velvets, 1 salted caramel, 1 chocolate and 1 cookies and cream. The service was great and quick.
Be warned though, not all 17 flavours on the menu are available everyday, but they make it easy for you to plan your cupcake eating by offering their flavour menu online, which tells you what cupcakes are available when.
I only sampled the red velvet & the salted caramel, so I can't speak for the chocolate or the cookies and cream. The red velvet was pretty fantastic. It was moist, with just the right amount of cream cheese frosting. I consider myself to be a red velvet connoisseur, and this one ranks in the top 5 of the best red velvets I've had. The Salted Caramel was the winner of the bunch though by far. I shared this one with my 2 roomies, and after the first bite, we were in love, and we all kind of (not so secretly) wished I had picked up more of those instead. The cake was delicious, as was the amazing frosting which was topped with a sprinkling of coarse salt. AMAZING.
I have yet to try the rest of the flavours, and I am sure I will in due time, when it comes time to cheat on my refined sugarless diet once more.
Highly recommended.
