  • It's entirely necessary that I begin this review with this small note: Never have I ever thought I'd rate a chain hotel such as a Hampton Inn this high. But, let me just say this: these folks deserve it. They deserve to be my 100th review. Read on & you'll find out why.... My family members & I ended up spending a total of 6 nights at this hotel due to a loved one being hospitalized at UPMC Montefiore a few short blocks away. That said, I didn't spend much time here except to sleep, shower, & eat breakfast. Perfect hotel for a business traveler or just anyone wanting to get a great experience at a very reasonable price. Complimentary wi-fi that's pretty fast, too (option to pay to upgrade to premium internet connection). Complimentary shuttle anywhere in a 3mi vicinity - I took it twice & was pleased. The cleanliness of any hotel room is key to any stay & while I'm not a huge fan of their carpets & felt their elevators could certainly use updating, everything was beyond adequate. This place is clean & there's no doubt about it. One of the biggest things that make the rooms great? The duvet covers - along with the sheets, obviously - are laundered & fresh upon check-in. That makes me sleep a heckuva lot better, because I've grown accustomed to - even at upscale hotels - removing comforters/quilts/bed toppers from each bed. The beds here are really comfortable & felt like upscale hotel quality. They also give a choice (on a queen bed, for example) of 2 soft & 2 firm pillows. Again, major brownie points on general cleanliness. Bathroom offerings are modest, but very good -even makeup remover wipes came complimentary with the vanity-top toiletries. Towels felt good & the overall quality of the bathroom shower pressure & layout of the bathroom was very good (more than enough hooks, etc.). The in-room mini-fridge was super helpful for storing leftovers, but our double-bed room didn't come with a microwave. Good thing they keep the breakfast area open all day so you can access the microwave & plastic cutlery, napkins, plates, bowls at anytime. There's also computer area with a printer...awesome that it's in the main lobby so no one hogs it & it's super accessible to do any quick print jobs. There's a great selection of coffees and teas (with all the fixings) available in the lobby 24/7...travel sleeves & tops ready to take any of it on-the-go. Breakfast is really a 10 here. Don't expect breakfast at the Ritz, but this is truly a good spread. The variety was certainly remarkable. They change the 3 hot food offerings daily (for example, one day I saw: breakfast potatoes w/peppers, sausage patties, & bacon). There are 3 different types of juices available from a professional machine. There's fresh sliced fruit. 4 different types of cereals. Hard boiled eggs. Oatmeal with a few toppings. Muffins, Pastries and English muffins, toast, & bagels are also available daily. Loads of condiments ranging from cheese to salsa & they even have Nutella spread mini containers. Oh, & the most fun DIY: two waffle machines with various toppings such as whipped cream, chocolate sauce, & pecans. All of breakfast is self-service & runs from 6am-10am. Anyone complaining about this is just being a stick in the mud. Plain & simple: each & every staff member here is SO nice. It's truly one of the only places - in this level of hotel chain - that I've witnessed "service with a smile" on display from every single staff person I've interacted with here. Having a sick loved one in the hospital - and not knowing when they'll be discharged - had the potential to make this stay a tough one, but the staff was truly remarkable in being empathetic and extending our stay (in the same room) thru the weekend despite being sold out in the room type. It was so nice to be treated well during such a tough time. The rate, if you have a loved one in the hospital, is $109 per night plus tax & includes free daily parking, too. This is a great place to rest your head if you need to be in the area. I'll definitely stay here if I ever need to be here again.
