| - When I came to Las Vegas in 2004 I started the search for a salon that I could trust. I needed a place that was professional, affordable, friendly, clean, and stylish without being cutesy-trendy. It took me about a year to find Globe Salon, and I've been a loyal customer ever since.
I'm always greeted warmly and I can't remember a single time when my appointment started late. I'm lucky to be a regular customer of salon director Staci Linklater. Her skills with scissors and blow dryer keep me looking good. Her communication and diplomacy skills keep me happy. I've seldom found something to complain about with my style, but on those rare occasions I know I can be honest with her and she'll adjust and correct until I'm happy. She never pressures me to have color or treatments I don't need. She does occasionally gently suggest subtle changes to my style, and when I trust her judgment, I almost always end up preferring my new style over my old one. And if we try something that doesn't work for me, Staci never takes it as a personal affront. You know what it comes down to? She does my hair the way I want my hair to be, not the way she wants it to be or the way this month's trend says it should be. I appreciate it that my opinions are respected, even though I'm not an expert or a fashion plate. I'm just the owner and wearer of this head of hair, and I know Staci will always make me look good to *my* taste.
I'm not just a client of Globe Salon's hair services. I also see aesthetician Diena for skin treatment and brow and facial waxing. I may actually be more particular about my eyebrows than I am about my hair, to be honest. If brows are badly shaped, there's not a great deal you can do to fix them. Every day they're right there on the front of your face, where everyone you meet can see and judge them. Diena has never let me down. Like everyone at the salon, she's pleasant and professional. And -- I'm trying not to sound too, er, smitten here -- she has a very soothing touch, if you can imagine that from someone whose job is to rip the hair off your face. Seriously, she has gentle, smooth hands, and never seems to be rushed to get done and get me out of the chair. All of that adds up to a pleasant experience.
Globe Salon has continued to impress me for all these years due to the entire staff's level of professionalism and class. I've witnessed other "upscale" salons become catty and ugly about business matters, competition, customers, politics, etc. -- but I've never witnessed that sort of ugliness at Globe. The quality of my haircut is what makes me happy for the weeks between appointments, but the quality of my experience once I go through that door is what makes me want to keep going back.
In Las Vegas we have a multitude of choices when it comes to salons. Every five-star resort on the strip has a salon and most of those establishments boast names that appear regularly in the tweets of celebrities. We can pay a high price for the honor of having our hair tended by an assistant to a stylist who has touched the tresses of a celebutante...or we can save a few hundred bucks, go downtown, and be treated like the valued customers we are. For the quality of the experience, value, and result, I choose the latter.
