  • I am impressed! Thanks, once again, to Yelp!, we found great reviews here and decided to give this vet a try. I confess, I was very demanding. I called to specifically get Dr. Koroknai to see my dog. I also contacted my previous vet to get the details (name, brand, code, dosage amount, and vaccination instructions) to relay to Dr. Koroknai's office. They did not have the brand I wanted, or the single dosage (non-cocktail), so Dr. Koroknai went out of his way to order it! WOW! ***THUMBS UP!*** Still wary of vets, (due to one horrific previous experience - with a different vet), I had on my skeptical look the whole time, waiting to see what would happen next. DR. KOROKNAI Dr. Koroknai inquired about her general health. Then he gave her a "very general" checkup, listening to her heart rate, took a look at her eyes, and weighed her. (My previous vet INCLUDED those PLUS looks at her teeth, her ears, and her anal area). What impressed me was that Dr. Koroknai actually SHOWED me the packages of the vaccination shots, just to prove he was indeed giving me what I had requested! ***TWO THUMBS UP!*** Then, he explained WHY some dogs might get bad reactions from certain vaccinations by explaining the process and ingredients used in these vaccinations! ***ONE PAW UP!*** Next, he gave my dog her vaccination shot, and asked me to wait 10-15 minutes after, just to see if there are any negative reactions. He explained what the typical non-threatening symptoms were (lethargy, soar spot, hot temperature or fever). But just to keep her cool and give her lots of water. I did not know about the latter. ***TWO PAWS UP!!!*** So far, my dog is acting normal and is laying on the balcony sun tanning. So I guess that means we'll be back here! PRICE: So unfair! Prices in Canada are 3 times MORE than the USA! What's up with that? Also, in the US, I would ONLY get charged for what my dog actually needed. Here, you have no choice. Any visit to see the vet INCLUDES a check-up fee, on TOP of services needed. (Meaning, you can not just come in for the vaccination). Lepto shots WITH check-up fee here are $59. Bummer. I called around, and apparently, that is just the way it is in the GTA. TIP TO VET: Hopefully the new location @ 1012 Bathurst St. is newer, cleaner, and doesn't smell like dirty dogs baking sweets. (Seriously, it smelled like pets & muffins at the same time! Great way to kill your sweet tooth). But HOORAY for Dr. Koroknai!
