You ever just walk into a place & regret having done so?
That's how I felt here.
I had hit up Barnes & Noble & was craving some macarons & cake so I searched on YELP for nearby bakeries. This is what came up & the reviews seem okay as all of the good ones popped up so I decided to try it out.
Located in a dead little shopping mall it's not the most convenient location unless you live nearby. If you're in Henderson it's easy enough to find if you've got SIRI but it's not near any stores or areas that are regular haunts... at least nothing comes to mind.
Upon walking in, the bakery did not really have that uplifting, pretty bake shop vibe that makes you want to linger in the smell of cupcakes forever. No decor or anything. There was not much selection except a bunch of lava cakes which looked like they had been sitting there for a while. There were some children sitting at the table playing Pokémon which is fine since I love kids, but when I said bye to them they gave me the stinkest look! That can't be good for business when you factor in everything else.
I bought a cupcake & three macarons. Let me you tell you... I have NEVER not once not been able to finish a macaron before. They're small & I've never had one that has tasted that bad. I have had the frozen Trader Joe's ones (which I don't love) & even those I finished. I felt horrible when I bit into the chocolate macaron (my favorite flavor of all macarons) & it tasted inedible. The cupcake was also inedible. The other two macarons, I ate but they were nothing to hit home about.
I guess there is a first time for everything... the first time I ever threw out a macaron. It's actually sad to think about.
