This is my first and only trip to SSA. The wait on the phone is ridiculous so I thought I would go there to drop of records. Who knew it would be a big production? (Think DMV)
I waited in line to see someone to get a number. He was OK but not the friendliest. Then I waited a lot longer to see a person about what I went there for. He said he couldn't scan the records but he could send them to Carson City. After explaining a little more of why I was there and the challenges I was having, he was kind enough to give me a phone number to the department I needed. WOW. That made everything since then so much easier.
I hope to not go back and if I do, I guess I'll have to wait an hour or two on the phone to make an appointment... Oh, wait... I did that before and the person I was supposed to talk to was a no-show. (I made a phone appointment in lieu of waiting in lines with a severe back injury and never got a call)
Check the hours before you go. I forgot what day of the week I went but they closed at noon. I squeaked in maybe 15 minutes before noon!
