  • I unfortunately had a very bad experience with a basal cell that was removed by my armpit area and the scar I have been left with is embarrassing and still not healed. I went in 2.5 months ago for the first procedure to have the basal cell removed, from the day the scab fell off the healing process didn't not seem right. The scar was puffy and raised and red and itchy. I called the office about 4 weeks after the procedure and explained the way it looked and told them I wanted someone to look at it to make sure everything was healing the way it should be. They got me in the next day which was great but when I arrived I only saw one of the assistance to the physicians and she literally looked and my area of concern for a mere 15 seconds and assured me everything was fine. I specifically said to her "I have some concerns that a keloid scar is starting to form", again she reassured me that the way it looked was normal and that the healing process could take a long time. So I walked out off the office to which my husband was in the waiting room and looked super complexed that I was only back there for no longer than 1 min. I went home and continued to care for it with the cream they gave me and another month went by and the symptoms were still the same so I called the office again and explained my situation. The girl on the phone was really nice to me and told me to come back in and this time they would make sure a physician looked at it. So I went in the following day and the physician barely had to look at my scar and said "yep that's a keloid and the area is definitely irritated and not healing correctly" I was appalled and told her my whole background story and she barely had any sympathy. I specifically came in and asked if this thing looked right and the first girl (really wish I remembered her name) said "no it looks great". I'm so mad it's not fair to me, I went here to have someone who supposedly knew what they were doing only to get a nasty looking red/puffy/raised scar. I'm already a self-conscious person about my skin and now I have this scar. The scar is obvious if I wear a tank top so now everyday I deal with what I'm going to wear that will cover it up. It's really sad, part of me wishes I would have left the basal cell there. I even called after my 3rd appointment and talked to a manager, while she did say "sorry" that honestly was about all I got out of her. I really wanted her to be as upset as I was that one of her girls who is seeing patients does not know what she's doing. That should be a huge concern to them if they really want to provide the best care they can. I really hope this does not happen to anyone else.
