  • My boyfriend took me here recently before seeing a show at the casino, it was our first time dining at Shula's. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and would go again if we were staying at Wild Horse. Details... The bread was hot and good. We started with the Ceasar salad, but as another reviewer experienced, even though we told our waitress we were going to split it, they brought out the salad and an extra plate. We agreed that they should have split the salad for us; it wasn't that big of a deal, but for a nice restaurant I was surprised. The Ceasar was just OK, the croutons were soggy but it wasn't drowning in dressing so that was good. I ordered the 8oz filet ($38), my bf had the surf-and-turf ($75), and we split the lobster mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach. After reading earlier reviews I was nervous about how our steaks would come out after seeing so many had problems with over or under done steaks. I tried to order my steak "medium rare plus, so between medium rare and medium" the waitress said they couldn't do that...what?! So I just went with medium and kept my fingers crossed it would be ok. Lucky for me, the steak came out perfect BUT if I was a person that liked my steak a true medium it would have been very under done. My boyfriend also ordered his steak medium and it came out the same, we agreed it definitely was not a medium steak. But that was just fine with us, they were perfectly done and very tender, not one bad bite. Steaks came with bernaise sauce which was a nice surprise, I hardly used it though because the steaks were so tasty (although a bit salty) on their own. My bfs lobster tail was cooked perfect and there was some seasoning on it already, so you didn't even need to dip it in butter. We both did not care for the lobster mashed potatoes, I would have preferred plain mashed potatoes. There was big chunks of lobster, which was nice, but there was a funky gravy on top that I didn't like. The creamed spinach was very good. Not too creamy and swimming in cheese or cream, just enough, so you could still taste the spinach. I would go again if we were staying at the Wild Horse hotel, but not go out of our way to dine at Shula's. For an expensive meal like that I would hope for great not just very good.
