| - I stayed here 8 days in latter Aug. 2013. Room 107.
Homestead is not a resort. It' has the amenities one might look for if you are just looking for a bed, mini kitchen, and a shower. I was looking for those things but also a place that I could swim or hang out as I had nowhere to go other than here for 8 days.
My room had some major damage. I don't know if that is because I was a smoker and requested a smoking room so they put me in a smoking room that otherwise would have been blocked.
I would have blocked the room until renovations were complete if I was running the place. The bathroom door looked as though someone used a force entry on it. Lock was broke in. Had a large hole in it. It didn't close properly.
The faucet in the tub had a steady stream coming out the whole time.. I could not get it shut off tightly. I hated to see all that water wasted.
At first glance, it looked as though someone vomited in the tub but at closer examination it appeared it was long streams of rust on the bottom of it. The shower surround had obvious dark mold in the grouting. It wasn't what I'd call clean. I washed it out before I got in it, the best I could.
I stayed 8 days but never had the housekeeping service even so much as check if I needed anything. I went to the office to ask for new trash bags, towels, and toilet paper after the 5th day. I stocked the room myself and cleaned what I could. Took out my trash, etc...
The room had a small coffee pot and I had to go to the office daily to ask for coffee pods to make coffee.
The breakfast bar had coffee, oatmeal packs, oatmeal bars, packaged muffins, apples, oranges. No juice. It was pretty small.
The property has no pool. It does have a nice laundry room. It has two picnic tables with a very dirty BBQ if one should dare to cook anything on it.
The area around Homestead is nice. I felt safe enough walking around Isabella St and Dobson. Close to the good Egg, other restaurants, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, all within walking distance.
I could not complain on the price. I went thru Priceline and got the room at a fair weekly rate.
I would stay here again if I HAD to but more than likely would check elsewhere first. I am sure not all their rooms were quite as bad as mine.
It does have low bandwidth wi-fi for free and can pay more if you want more bandwidth.
Their pet policy is CRAZY! Twenty Five a night to have a pet stay! Absolutely ridiculous. No dog poop bags in dispenser the whole time I stayed. I didn't have a pet with me b/c of the price but I do note the "friendliness" that motels advertise about pets. The price shows it ain't pet friendly. No reason to charge folks that much!
