A friend and I came in for a wash, cut and style using a Groupon which should have been an ordinary service. Sophia greeted us at the door, since we arrived earlier than the shop opening. We were excited to try out a new place to get our hair cut since we are trying to find a new regular place to go. She invited us in, and we told her we had appointments for the hair cuts. When she was finally ready, I told her I would go first, since my hair cut would be simple. I also told her that we both had Groupons for the services. After that, her demeanor changed. She immediately started complaining about how much extra work it was for her to redeem the Groupon and also sternly told us that we both had long hair and would be an extra $10 for each of us. We were not aware of the extra charge, but agreed since we already paid for the Groupon. So she went to her computer and took care of the Groupon.
When she came back to me, she took me to the shampoo chair and started to wash my hair. The water she used was so cold, and once it touched my scalp I cried out that it was too cold. She didn't say anything about the water but she did turn on the warmer water after I screamed out. She was very rough while shampooing and the grimace on my face did not create any reaction on her part to ease up. The towel behind my neck was not secure and water was pouring down my back. She did not care that the sprayer was turned high and sprayed water everywhere all over my face and clothes. She did not use a drape while shampooing. It was the worst shampooing experience I've ever had.
When she took me to the seat for the hair cut, my wet hair was dripping everywhere. She finally put the drape on me, and asked me what type of hair cut I wanted. I said two inches off the bottom, round layers and a face frame. A very simple cut. She cut my hair very quickly, but ended up cutting off almost 5 inches, which is much shorter than I wanted. However, she was still extremely rough with my hair and pulled my head so much while cutting and blow drying. I don't have a sensitive head, but she was pretty extreme. I'm ok with the quality of her hair cutting ability, even though she did not follow directions and cut off a lot more than I wanted.
The reason for the one star is due to her lack of professionalism. The entire time she was cutting my hair, she complained that Groupon customers were not "real customers" and didn't matter to her. She said that Groupon was not worth her time and that she should take down her postings. She said this to a regular customer who was waiting, while she cut our hair. Even her regular customer commented that if she does a good job, Groupon customers might come back and become repeated customers. She didn't respond and continued to complain about the people coming in using Groupon. She stated that people only are looking for deals and that she never uses Groupon herself. I did say to her as she was cutting my hair that Groupon is a good way for people to try out a new place to see if they like it and return. She also did not respond to this comment. After my friend got her haircut, we quietly tipped her and left the establishment, my back still soaking wet and feeling angry.
Sophia, I know you will read this so I wanted to say to you directly, that I wanted to give you a chance to win our loyalty and repeated business, but due to your horrible behavior and lack of respect, I will never visit your place of business again. I hope that others that read this will learn from this posting and follow suit and choose not to be a patron. If others do in fact choose to visit your place of business, I hope that you will learn to treat all customers with respect regardless of their method of payment.
