| - I usually never document negative reviews but I rely on yelp for reviews and I wanted to share my thoughts on this business. I was recommended here when I moved to the area from Pittsburgh and when my BMW X6 was having issues they were the first place I called. This review covers 3 incidents:
1. 12-3-15 Batter Replacement - I was getting a message "increase battery discharge" which I came to find out after there was a BMW recall on this part which I could of had replaced for free at BMW. My loss. Europa charged me $291.00 for the battery which usually costs around $150.00 and $99.95 in labor. I was also notified that my oil filter was "leaking" I know it was not because I change my oil myself and had done so in the past month. I told them to replace the filter only because I know I just changed my oil. They then went on to charge me $22 for the filter and $25 for the labor. This was them trying to increase cost, unnecessary. When I complained they discounted the $25 in labor. Thank You. Total cost was $469.39 for a battery.
2. 10-30-16 Check Engine Light - I scheduled an appointment to have a "Diagnostic Check" ran on the car to see what was the issue. I took my car in first thing Friday morning they said give us an hour. I couldn't stay so I took an Uber to work and told them to take the day and call me later to pick it up. I never received a call, now they were closed Saturday and Sunday so I was without my car all weekend and never received a call. I called first thing Monday morning to see what was the issue and they told me they would look into it and call me back. I received a call later that afternoon and they told me the check engine light was on because of a dirty air filter. Now an air filter will not warrant a check engine light, they then went on to tell me they replaced them before I authorized it. Better yet they charged me $285.37, when air filters run $70. The actual reason for the check engine light was from a Purge Valve sticking open. This tells me they didn't actually diagnose the car and replaced air filters without checking with me first. They wanted to charge me over $350 but since I didn't authorize the work before they completed it they discounted the total down to $285.37. Notice with every incident I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt.
3. 1-10-17 Spark Plug Replacement - Now I called to inquire on having my spark plugs replaced. I did not choose to have my work done at Europa. Mike Lepre quoted me at $551.64 for replacing my spark plugs only not the ignition coils. It was broken down like this: Spark plugs- $23.29 X 8 = $186.32 Labor 2.8 hrs. @ 106.95/hr. = $299.46 Shop charges = $25.00 Tax = $40.86. I then called BMW of Westlake and they quoted me at $395.47, which ended up being reduced by $64, total charge came to $330.47. I then replied to Mike Lepre and told him his quote was more than $100 more than a certified BMW dealership and his went on to tell me he worked for BMW and he knows pricing. It was a smug email and I dealt with him in the past at Ganley BMW and his service level was horrible. I will not be back to Europa mainly because of him.
In my opinion they have disappointed me, moving forward I would rather take my 2009 BMW X6 50i to a certified BMW dealership (BMW of Westlake) because of the customer service, quality of work, and the fact they give you a loaner vehicle. If you go to https://www.worldoemparts.com/worldbmwparts you can check BMW OEM parts from the dealership which sometimes get discounted, something you will never get from Europa and the cost of labor is almost the exact same.
I know there are many great reviews but this is my experience, 100% truthful. You can make your own decision, but I recommend going straight to a certified BMW dealership. You know it will be done right.
