  • I cannot say enough good things about dr. Anthony De beus. In my life he has worked miracles. He took on my case with my eyes that I think at least five doctors turned down because of the risk at the time back in 2000 when my retina detached the first time. There was a very good chance it wasn't going to be repairable in that I really was going to be blind because I am already very low sighted in my one eye and that I that the retina detached in was my dominant eye so to take on that risk when no one else would touch it I was so grateful and I and I was prepared for the worst but I got better than the best. I was born with a very rare condition congenital cataracts and as a result had numerous eye surgeries with a couple of pediatric ophthalmologists which each one subsequently weakens your retina at least back then I'm 46 years old now. And even Consulting one of my pediatric doctors back in 2002 he told me that I was in the best hands of the absolute best retina doctor in the State of Arizona in his opinio.. I'm not sure if he is still in practice but he was a very well known for many years back in the seventies eighties and nineties at least for doing his own many many miracles, so for him to tell me to go with Dr. De Beus and he said that I had the most skilled surgeon did he ever entrust with a retina surgery like mine was so reassuring and that was back in 2002, so all I can say is he has done multiple surgeries on my eyes from then till now. I would trust no one else unless Dr. De beus was at least overseeing it as far as making the recommendations because I know each of the doctors at Southwest have their own Specialties and I've seen a few of the others and they are all skilled.and I am proud to say that I am happy with every one of them that I have come in contact with but I followed Dr. De Beus as a patient from the place where he worked prior tto Southwestern Eye Center because he had done such a wonderful job when my retina detached in my left eye when I had a problem with my right eye I would have been frightened to have trusted anyone else because my biggest phobia in the world is losing my vision even though I knew like I said it was a possibility and I just know he is a specialist of specialists. I was told that I would never qualify for lens implants due to the type of cataract surgery I had as a child and he was able to actually overcome that obstacle in performed the necessary surgery and made my vision that much better to the point where I mean to it's be able to see the leaves on the trees with definition and be able to read street signs from a distance clearly it was amazing like I had never seen before with definition amazingly the things that people take for granted that he made possible in my life. He currently is still my doctor because I will always have to keep a very close watch on my eyes because of the numerous surgeries I had to have as a child just to be able to see it all and it's a miracle that I was able to be mainstreamed as a child in regular school and grow up not really knowing I was that much different because I had phenomenal pediatric ophthalmologist as well allowing me the life of a functioning adult with minimal annotations for the most part. I have relatives back East with the same genetic disorder haven't been blessed to see as well like I have t.They are held back by their eyes substantially because they didn't have the blessing of a doctor like dr.Debeus or they were a little bit older than me and the technology wasn't there but I think one of the nice things is the added bonus he has a great personality and he really does care. I had something happened where I ended up in the emergency room on a weekend where he was not the doctor on call and he came in on his own time because I was his patient and ended up doing emergency surgery on me a few years ago and I'll never forget that. He could have just let the doctor on call come in and handle it but he realized it was me and came down to Scottsdale Osborn hospital and that really touched me. So from 2002 to now I have lots of stories and none of them are negative when it comes to this physician and he's got a great sense of humor and he is well-spoken and able to put things on a level where you will understand what's going on and he takes the time to explain things which I think is rare these days. So you couldn't ask for a better doctor in my opinion so thank you again dr. De beus because you knew my biggest fear was not being able to see my children's faces growing up and you gave me that gift.
