  • I had an appointment with another travel vaccine provider, but my husband suggested that I call the place he uses and see if they would offer a discount since he has been getting his shots there. I called and left a message asking if the visit fee could be waived. I also planned to compare the price of the two vaccines I knew my son and I both needed. The office staff called me back and said they could not waive the visit fee. I asked then if my son and I could get a reduced visit rate and she put me on hold to check with someone else. When she came back, she said they would just charge us $35 each for the visit, but asked if we could come a little early for the visit. Since this was less than the other place, I made an appointment and then called the other place and cancelled. When we showed up at World Travel Health, when it was time to pay the bill, it was higher than I expected. I asked what the charge was for the visit and she said it was $50 each. I explained that I had been told that we would be charged $35 and she asked who I had spoken with. Unfortunately, I did not write down a name, but I explained that we had had an appointment elsewhere and only changed our appointments because they were supposed to charge just $35 each. Although the office staff remembered talking with me, she and the nurse said no, they only give that rate to returning customers. I told them that I never said that we were returning customers, that only my husband had been there and that I had no idea what the rate was for returning customers, I only know what I was told we would pay which was $35 each and that they needed to honor the rate they quoted to me. They said they wouldn't honor the $35 rate. I felt really angry because I changed my appointment only because they offered to lower the price of what I would pay and even though I would now have to go take more time off from work to go to another appointment, I refuse to give money to a business that does not honor their word. That is just wrong. I will not give my money to a business like that. The ridiculous thing is that they had us right there, ready to get our two vaccines and pay $470 that we had been quoted, but instead, they refused to honor their word and lost our business. Plus we will not go there for any follow-up vaccines either. Plus their refusal to honor their word motivated me to share my story. Poor, poor customer service. So I will take my business back to the other place because even though I will pay the same price (actually, $5 more), it will be paid to a business who was honest when I asked them what they would charge me.
