  • Went back and forth before writing this review as certain parts of my dining experience were excellent, while others were lousy, So three stars, A-OK it is. Saturday night at 8pm and the restaurant is pretty empty. This is Vegas, so maybe it gets hopping later. However, of the four tables in the place they sat one directly behind us, one directly to the left of us and one directly to the right of us. So much for an intimate evening. The blaring techno music doesn't add to the ambiance either. The tasting menu is definitely the way to go, with one caveat - they are completely inflexible when it comes to making any changes, no matter how minor. Now I understand the very nature of a tasting menu is for the Chef to showcase his favourite dishes where each course complements the last, but when your first course consists of raw meat (beef carpaccio) and raw meat (beef tartare), with no other options, and your wife doesn't eat raw meat, then there is a problem. Sure, I could have made a fuss and said she was allergic to raw meat, but that wouldn't have been completely true and people bandy around the "allergy" card way too much these days. On the flip side of the 2-person tasting menu is the 4-person tasting menu where shrimp and grits is one of the first course selections. We asked if one of the raw meats could be substituted with that, but were flatly told no. So we added an order of shrimp and grits at an additional cost so my wife could eat a first course. For the most part the food was excellent. The hits - We loved the white onion soup (watch out, it's sweet!) The skirt steak was very tender and a surprising large portion for a tasting menu. Octopus, amazing! The scallop, it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The misses - ratatouille - just a mush of under-seasoned vegetables, completely out of place with the two other dishes served on that course. Carpaccio - all I could taste was the olive oil, it was swimming in it. For all the positive comments about the wine list, I found the wine-by-the-glass selection to be very limited. On the fancy-schmancy digital wine list there were only 8 reds available by the glass. maybe there is another list that I didn't see, but the iPad was all that was offered to us. Service was ok, she would disappear for periods of time and the courses were delivered without a moment to catch our breath in between. Would I come back again, maybe. Is this a must-do while in Vegas? No.
