Pretty nice arena if you ask me. This was my first time visiting since and I was only in here to vote for my local riding, not even to play some puck.
I used to play a lot of hockey growing up, even played at a slightly more competitive level for a period of time and none of the ice surfaces I played at were anything like the Mastercard Centre - it's totes profesh. And it would have to be seeing as it serves as the offseason training facilities for both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Marlies.
That said, no matter how nice an arena is they always have those old familiar lingering smells that bring back fond memories for anyone who has ever strapped on a pair of skates. That mix of propane exhaust from the zamboni, mixed with sub par arena food scents and the occasional waft of a hockey bag. Between that, second hand smoke and the smell that lets you know your dad was just in the bathroom before you, pretty much summarizes my smell memories from age 4-10.
I notice they have a pretty good public arena schedule for ice skating, lessons and hockey, maybe I'll re-explore my love of life between the pipes once again...someday
