| - I did extensive research prior to selecting Sheenagal Photography as my maternity and newborn photographer. At the time, Sheena was offering a promotion if you booked her for both maternity and newborn photography sessions simultaneously. I felt VERY skeptical about booking her for both shoots, as both of these fields of photography are highly specialized, and it is incredibly rare to find a photographer who is proficient at both. FORGET PROFICIENCY... Sheena is A MASTER.
Let me tell you, it is no easy task to make a gigantic pregnant woman look and feel beautiful, so when you see a photographer advertising that they will "shoot anything..." run for your life! Sheena gave my husband and me the direction we needed to make our maternity shoot feel very comfortable. She supplied me with my wardrobe, so all I had to worry about was my hair and makeup, keeping the planning completely stress free for me in my uncomfortable state! Most importantly... my maternity pictures came out... BEYOND any greatness I EVER COULD HAVE IMAGINED!!! I can't even believe I ever doubted my decision! I don't even want to think about what I would have missed out on had I chosen a different photographer.
Of course... the next test was yet to come. Could she possibly pull off equally good newborn photographs? Well, I had my precious baby boy and I brought him to her when he was 8 days old for his first professional modeling shoot ;-P. Sheena captured EVERY. SINGLE. PRECIOUS. DETAIL. of my little angel! I can NOT stress this enough... if you value memories in photo-form, you only have ONE CHANCE to capture this priceless moment of your baby's life! DO NOT waste it on some discount photographer. Watching Sheena handle my delicate son with such ease and affection brought tears to my eyes and the finished product truly had me sobbing with joy!
If I could go back in time, I would give past, newly pregnant "me" a pat on the back for making an EXCELLENT choice. If I could do it all again, I wouldn't change A THING!
Now for the less emotional details:
Pricing: Sheena's prices are VERY fair. To save you all the research I already did, she charges very modestly (on the low end) for your digital copies, print minimums, session fees, etc. relative to other equally-professional (but probably less talented) photographers out there.
(PRICING ADDENDUM: Just wanted to add a little update here... I had a recent experience that opened my eyes to how ASTOUNDINGLY AFFORDABLE Sheena's pricing is for the incredible quality of her work! You will ABSOLUTELY get your money's worth here AND her prints are INSANELY affordable. I'm blown away by what other people charge for their work. Sheena provides top notch quality at a SHOCKINGLY low price. Okay, I'll get off my soap box now.)
Photographer: When you go with Sheenagal Photography, Sheena IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER. You won't get some random or trainee capturing the most important moments of your life.
Props and accessories: Sheena will outfit both expectant mommy and new baby! No need to stress over ordering dresses you'll wear only once or scrounge for items to make baby look cute. You're better off trusting her to make you both look good.
Partners: It's great to get your partner involved in both shoots! They can act as both a model AND a stuntman/woman! You'll see what I mean depending on what kind of shots you're looking for ;). If you want truly breathtaking photos, be prepared to have all hands on deck to make some magic happen! Embrace this moment of your life and HAVE SOME FUN with it!
