  • Worst experience! I wish I could give no stars. I was treated badly by Julie and had a very unpleasant conversation that left me in tears and feeling bad about my body. The rest of the staff that was in there was not friendly either. I went to Matina's as a bridesmaid and tried on the sample dress. I was able to zip it all the way up no problem and the top fit well, but it was tight round the bottom so I knew I would have to go up a size or 2 because there was no extra fabric to let it out. I understand that the sizing for these type of dresses is never accurate so I wasn't too concerned with the number. What I didn't expect was being told to order a dress 5 sizes bigger than the sample I zipped up. When I questioned her she called the seamstress over who took me back in the dressing room and made me strip down to my bra and panties (which I was pretty uncomfortable with) and she said I was measured wrong and needed 6 sizes bigger than the sample. I was very uncomfortable with the whole situation and went home feeling very uneasy about my order. This also put me into the bigger sizes that have an extra fabric fee tacked on. After talking to another seamstress at a different bridal shop and getting her advice I called Matina's to change the size of my dress. When I called I was asked my name and put on hold. Julie then picked up the phone and immediately had an attitude with me and asked why I was calling. I said I wanted to change the size of the dress I ordered. She flat out REFUSED to change my order and told me that it was very insulting to her that I was questioning her and that this is her life's work. She then told me that I was heavy on the bottom and that I was going to look awful in the dress and if I tried to sit down I would rip the dress. She also threw in my face that she should have charged me more for the extra fabric which I had not even brought up in our phone conversation. At this point I was too upset to argue any further and hung up. I now have an expensive bridesmaid dress that is way too big all around and will have to spend more money to have the entire dress altered from top to bottom. I am appalled that any business would treat its customers this way. There are 12 bridesmaid in the wedding party. That is a significant amount of business we were bringing in and all the bridesmaids were unhappy with the service they had received.
