I kept hearing that Petra had turned things around and was worth another shot...so when some friends wanted to meet in Tivoli Village for drinks and appetizers I was game to go to Petra.
Tivilo Village doesn't know who it wants to be. It's layout and aesthetics are weird. Sometimes it's a 1920's Italian carnival city with jugglers and stilt walkers...In the evening it isn't sure if it wants to be upscale or trendy...It doesn't do either well and all the establishments suffer from this...perhaps it will be better when it is two or three times as large as it is now.
That being said Petra is one of the more appealing places places in Tivoli. The ambiance is cool...the bar and patio have afresh and vibrant feel thanks to the luminescence.
The food (appetizers only) was good, but we literally were talking about other Mediterranean places where we prefer similar dishes at. We enjoyed the Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and the sampler of Greek Spreads. The Melitzana Stuffed Mushrooms were just okay.
The wine was a little overpriced compared to other establishments in the area, and the selection was lacking.
The sangria looked great...and I heard it was solid...
Good prices on the appetizers in general.
