  • The food here was disappointing. The service was good but I would probably not come back for the food. Maybe, I'm just not the right type of customer. There were there for dinner before going to see the new Inferno magic show. We ordered, the fried calamari, spaghetti with meatball, carbonara, and cheese steak, and a salad. First of all, when I order calamari, I expect it to be crispy and temperature hot. The sauce that they put on the calamari made all the pieces soggy. Have you had soggy calamari at a restaurant before? I haven't. This was the first time. The spaghetti was fine. Nothing special with a giant meatball. For $25 or so for an average bowl of spaghetti wasn't worth it. If the sauce was more flavorful, then sure, but really, I could have made that spaghetti. The carbonara was okay, but I think they must have used swiss cheese, or the combination of cheese they used wasn't as good. It was very strong. I love parmessan, gruyere, asiago, etc. but whatever the combination was - was something that I personally didn't like. The Philly was okay, as well, but nothing special. Usually price isn't a factor, but when the food isn't great, then it becomes an issue, because it wasn't worth it. If I had known, I probably would have gone to Maggiano's instead. Oh, finally, the salad. It was swimming in dressing. I ordered the Maggiano's salad for $14. It was just that - lettuce and some tomatoes. I am being critical in that the world of restaurants has made so many innovations in salad that a $14 salad shouldn't be a small plate of greens with dressing that I could have bought at the grocery store. I love great food and expect it when it is billed as a fine dining restaurant. Mediocre is right. I make better pasta at home than this restaurant. I don't think the chefs understand that people's palate's have changed. We're used to eating at so many great pasta restaurants - Nora's, Buddy Vs, Maggioni's, Wolfgang Puck, and a few more - gosh even California Pizza Kitchen, and I'll say Buca Di Beppo have some solid dishes, so this place is a great disappointment.
