| - For most my time since living in downtown Toronto, I relied on European Meats (both the Kensington market and the Jutland (Etobicoke) location). When they closed down, I started my hunt for an alternate butcher.
Sanagan's, which replaced European in the market, is great, but I find their prices a bit on the high side. (The quality of the meats justify their pricing, I suppose). Pavao, which replaced the Etobicoke location, had cheap pricing, but just didnt meet our needs.
So we looked for something a little closer to home and finally found Vince Gasparro's.
It's a tiny little shop but they offer a lot of pre-marinated items to suit the needs of a busy lifestyle. In addition, their aged steaks are of really excellent quality and their pricing is fair. It's always busy when I go, but service is prompt and friendly. If you have questions about how to prepare something, they are quick to provide recommendations.
Their aged steak burgers are a staple for weekend BBQs in the summer. It is truly one of the tastiest burgers we've had. Their marinated pork loins / pork chops (bourbon chipotle or clover honey dijon) are big hit with friends as well.
I still miss European Meats, but Vince Gasparro's comes close to offering the meats that I frequently bought. 4-stars only because their deli offerings do not come close to what European offered.
