| - Stay away from this contractor! Almost non existent communications, poor and incomplete workmanship. We signed a contract 3 months ago for a kitchen re-model and still have an incomplete kitchen with no appliances, counters, damaged ceilings and poor electrical. A more complete summary is listed below:
Contractual start date was missed. Contract states, "Job start 4 to 5 wks from 5/2/17" (June 6th). Actual start was July 5, 2017, over a month late.
Contractual completion date was missed. The contract is for a three part job: kitchen renovation, bathroom renovation, & fireplace enclosure & venting. The contract states completion date for all three parts is "90 days" from the date of the contract. (Contract is dated 5/2/17. Plus 90 days is July 31, 2017). As of July 31, 2017 the first part of the job (kitchen) is still not complete. Cabinetry is missing doors, handles, backing, trim pieces, etc., stone counters are not installed, back splash is not installed, electrical is not complete, vent hood is not installed, exterior stucco has not been repaired, plaster on island is not complete, and painting is not complete. Neither the bathroom renovation nor the fireplace construction has been started.
Substandard and incorrect construction has been reworked multiple times and is still not complete.
Repairs to damage done to the home has not been completed.
Communication on the contractor's part is nearly non-existent, with numerous texts and phone calls not returned.
The work has no schedule. Contractor and subcontractor personnel just show up at unplanned and unexpected times and knock on the door, sometimes asking us what they are here to do.
Current known issues with kitchen:
* No bullnose at corners of reworked kitchen island
* Island plaster is cracked at all corners due to rework
* Many cabinet drawers and doors do not close properly; the broom closet doors bang into each other and one door is warped such that a magnet was installed to get it to close.
* Trim under the upper cabinets is not installed
* One cabinet door is missing
* The back to one cabinet is missing
* Cabinet handles are not installed
* The cabinet toe kicks are not properly installed (no backing)
* The vent hood is not installed with open holes to the outside, drywall has not been completed with studs showing
* Cabinet interior lighting is not installed
* Gas stub-out for stove needs to be reworked
* Repairs to damaged ceiling speakers has not been completed
* Painting around light fixtures is not complete
* Wiring to vent hood and stove is not properly installed at junction box
Got the name of this contractor from Home Advisor. Had a 92% satisfaction rate. From other reviews Ive read here on Yelp, satisfaction is similar to ours.
This whole re-model has been a nightmare...
