| - After reading so many good reviews of Minh Chau, I decided to go there to get my glasses. I had my eye appointment done at Hakim and asked them for a price quote for my glasses and a certain pair of frame that I wanted. i was quoted 560 WITH a discount! So I went around to Lenscrafters and was quoted 400. Finally, I stopped by Minh Chau and asked them for one.
Right away, I was greeted by two ladies, one whom remembered me from the day before asking if they could order me in a frame after I had my eye appointment done the next day. She was there and instantly remembered what I wanted and got a lady from the back to help me out. They sat my friend and I down and offered us an ice water and immediately started asking me what I was looking for. I told them specifically I wanted this frame, and gave them my prescription. They didn't have it in stock, but she gladly said she'd order not one, but two of them for me (I had written down the same pair of frames but in two different colours that I liked). She ordered both colours for me so I could try them both on in store before installing the lenses, completely free of charge.
Such great service here, I can't believe it! After that, she quoted me 360$ with no tax (or tax included, she didn't specify): a 200 dollar difference from Hakim! Later she told me that as soon as the frames come in, I could come in and try it on and they'd have it ready for me 40 minutes later because they have a lab in the back.
The people are SO friendly and the prices are just hard to beat. I definitely recommend Minh Chau for anyone looking to find a pair of glasses. They have a great assortment of name brands, and the salespeople here are NOT pushy at all. When I was first quoted 360$, I told them i'd be back so I could think about it. They gladly said that they hope to see me soon, and after about 10 minutes, I decided to go with them and went back. Definitely recommended!
**UPDATE**
I received my glasses yesterday. The same lady (i wish i knew her name! she wears funky red glasses and is such a nice person to be around) called me on the phone to tell me that the two pairs have arrived and I could go in and try on which one I like best, and they would have them ready for me in 40 mins. I went ASAP cause i've been wanting new glasses for a very long time. I went in, and she immediately remembered me and definitely agreed on the colour that I had originally wanted. She told me to go out and eat some dim sum (since we're in chinatown anyways!) and she'd have it ready. She knew I was sort of in a rush so she made sure she worked on them right away. I went back exactly 45 mins later and they were ready. Fit perfectly, exactly what I wanted at a great price. She even gave me some free things along with it (eyeglass cleaner, cloths, etc).
What a great experience at Minh Chau. I recommend anyone going there to try them out. GREAT service. I'm so happy with the end product.
