I traveled to Cleveland for the 2012 Film Festival - which was still a lot of fun, but there were some pretty major logistical hiccups this time.
The first film I picked to see was Brooklyn Castle. It sounded like a great film and I was especially interested in the panel talk afterward. I arrived early and was one of the first in line. It turns out that this film played on two screen simultaneously, and I was in the wrong theater to see the panel. Logistically, it would have been nice to know this beforehand so I would have gone into the correct theater rather than awkwardly try to squeeze in after the film ended.
The second film I picked was The Art of Love - a French comedy. Unfortunately, the version of the film that shipped to Cleveland didn't have subtitles, and apparently nobody had bothered to check beforehand. They rescheduled it for the following weekend, but obviously I was only in town for the first weekend.
Feeling a little down and disappointed, I decided not to stick around for a third film.
I still love the CIFF and am thinking about traveling for it again in 2013, but boy do I hope they have some of the logistics ironed out.
