| - This could be the most overrated restaurant on the square. I ordered the pub burger with a salad, and shared an order of cheese curds with my friend.
The burger: It came served on an English muffin, which was unique, but not a good fit for a burger -- i.e., rubbery, tasteless, and flat. The patty itself was meager, and came very well-done rather than medium as I requested. The beef itself wasn't anything to write home about, though they wax poetic about its local, pure origins on a board on the wall. At $11, I'd also contend it's overpriced.
The curds: I have definitely had better curds in Madison. Here again, I can't get over the $9 price tag. They were okay -- very greasy, like most fried curds -- and came with a slightly weird sugary dipping sauce.
My recommendation: skip the pretentiousness and try a burger at a bar called the Caribou on East Johnson.
