| - This place is a cute Japanese-French fusion bakery. Very well known for their macarons (it's one O ladies. Macaroons are the classic coconut chocolate treats).
Out of all the macaron places I have tried in Toronto (Bobette and Belle, Petite Thuet, MoRoCo, Ruelo, I've also had tons of macarons in NY and HK), this places has one of the best macarons in Toronto. They bake the classic flavours, along with some with a Japanese twist: Green tea & Mango; Yuzu; Ume & Sake. The macaron shell is a bit on the crunchy side, but the filling inside is delicious chocolate ganache or rich buttercream. It's not a cheap jam or poorly made buttercream. My favourite flavours here are: Pistachio (must have), mint chocolate, lavender, and the green tea with mango.
BUT! (Huge but.) The macarons aren't worth it for the price. They used to be close to $3 each but were huge, but they significantly reduced the size of the macaron, and reducing the price by a 40c. I think they're about $2.30 each now but they are tiny tiny tiny!!
I also had a chocolate mousse cake here and it was not moussey at all. In fact, it was almost brick hard and trying to cut a piece of the cake to eat was nearly impossible. I don't even remember the taste, which proves it was bland and unforgettable.
All in all, best macarons in the city for a premium. Wouldn't recommend the chocolate mousse cake to anyone.
