| - First time having Peruvian food, went with my family and did not know what to expect, with all the mixed reviews, but I am a see things for myself kind of gal, so away we went. We also used a gift certificate from restaurant.com ($25 off of $50), which came in handy.
It is true that the restaurant is not busy, however, we were told that they were sold out of some items (Papa Rellena, Chicha Morada) by the time we arrived for dinner, around 7:30pm. I can appreciate this as they probably have projected sales for the day and do not want to waste food, to try and keep their costs down.
The service was just fine, the waiter was friendly and prompt, and was helpful to recommend menu items and describe them to us as we did not know what we were doing.
The food was really quite lovely. My kids enjoyed it as well, flavorful and not too spicy. I don't think I can pronounce the things that we ordered, but they were all delicious! I had the Arroz Con Pollo, which was basically chicken served with rice. The rice was the best rice ever. It was filled with seasonings and vegetables. So yummy. My hubby ordered the chef's special, which was steak and a fried egg with plantains, also really delicious, and my son ordered the Carapulcra Limenta, or potato casserole, not what I expected, but really savory and my son loved it. The little ones ordered peruvian chicken nuggets (Chicharron de Pollo Kids), thank God that was on the menu for them. The only thing I did not like was the appetizer, but everyone else at the table said it was delicious, Anticuchos de Pollo, or spicy chicken with potatoes.
Our bill came to $73.00, so it was nice to have the $25.00 off. I would definitely eat here again, there is still so much to try!
