  • I have a love/hate relationship with this place. Sometimes I have a great experience, but mostly I have mediocre ones. I haven't had any truly terrible experiences, which is why I keep coming back, but I have never left the salon saying "wow, my hair looks amaaaazing!". I'm usually just like, "well it looks better than when I walked in!". This place looks like it hasn't been updated since the 80s. And it's a mess. There's a bike by the wash basins, the staircase looks like it hasn't seen a vacuum cleaner in 10 years and it's covered in hair supplies and buckets. The neck-cloths on the shelves are all in tatters, and the staff look like they've been out partying all night. My stylist today ran out for a smoke at every chance he got, so at all times all I could smell was the stench of cigarettes on him, and because they can't stand behind you at the basins (they have to stand to the side and lean over), I had the sleeves of his smelly leather jacket dangling in my face the entire time. Not exactly a pleasant experience. I also wish they had customer files, so they knew what you had done the last time you were there. Today my colour looked great, but my stylist admitted he had just "guessed" and was happy it turned out alright... Say what?! I also wish they'd make me a coffee. Or a glass of water. Or what I'd really love is a glass of wine. But unfortunately, this isn't that kind of place. But despite all the above, sometimes they'll do something like comp my cut if I'm having a colour, or when I come in to trim my bangs between cuts, they'll take a few snips at the back of my hair to clean it up a bit, completely for free. And the price is crazy cheap anyway. I only pay $5 for bang trims, and around $115-$135 for a cut and colour. And if I'm to be completely honest, it's the low prices that make me return each time. Also, I'm sure it's been mentioned in other reviews, but they don't take debit or Mastercard (they only accept cash or Visa). There's an ATM in the salon if you don't mind paying the $1.50 fee, but otherwise it would behoove you to come prepared.
