Moved here a couple months ago and felt it was time to get a new in state license. Got there and there was a line but not extremely long. They have a unique waiting system in that once the inside is somewhat full everyone else has to stand outside in the line until it clears out some. It was still early so not too hot outside.
Most of the staff was friendly and accommodating to the fact that I have hearing loss and was patient with my writing back and forth. The problem I had was when I got to the window and one of the workers tells me I MUST speak and tell him my phone number and the answers to the vision test verbally. Even went so far as to tell me to turn up my hearing aids if I have to. I kindly responded that my hearing aids did not help me in using my voice that they simply aided me in environmental sound awareness if the pitch was loud enough (sirens). Needless to say I was ridiculously offended that my deafness and lack of vocals seemed to bother him. Sensitivity training or disability awareness is definitely needed here. May I never have to go back to the place or if I do hopefully I get someone else.
