  • I really want to give this place 4 or even 5 stars. I REALLY do. The staff is friendly and helpful, and their range memberships are probably the least expensive in the Valley. And the membership is good at two locations! The store is good too. Good size, good selection. Prices are a little higher than you'll find online, but I guess that's par for the course. For at least half the year I REALLY like this place. So why only 3 stars? The temperature in the shooting area. Unacceptable in the summer. Even if there technically is A/C in the lanes, you can't feel it at all. I mean, AT ALL. It feels like you're shooting in an non-ventilated tool shed. Or a giant oven. I know this is Phoenix and our summers get hot. But so what? This isn't 1950. I love the heat outdoors. But NOT when I'm shooting indoors. I believe there is at least one A/C vent. Maybe two. Whatever the A/C is in the lanes, it's not working. It's stuffy and terrible in there. I shot here the other day for only about a half hour and was dripping with sweat on my way out. In fact, I was sweating like crazy after only 10 or 15 minutes. Others were commenting on the heat as well. The staff remained quiet, almost looked embarrassed as they avoided the questions/comments. Keep in mind, I LOVE walking outside when it's 120 degrees out. I love Phoenix heat when I'm outside. So I'm not overly sensitive about heat. It just doesn't belong indoors. If this summer concludes with no meaningful improvement to the lanes temps, I'm not renewing my family membership. I'll gladly pay a little more somewhere else that keeps their lanes reasonably cooled. In addition to correcting the ineffective A/C, another suggestion would be to replace the lanes lights (that no one uses) with fans. There's already a circular hole cut for the light, and wiring going to it. Just replace the lights with fans! Better A/C + overhead fans = 5 star range. (Some people might be quick to say that A/C doesn't "mix well" with indoor shooting because of the gunpowder, fumes, etc in the air. BS. With proper filtering it shouldn't be a problem.)
