| - Great little store that i've been going to since high school. They have always been cool to me, even as a punk-rock looking white dude.
They have multiple varieties of seriously everything. I can't count the types of sev/bhujia, plain, spicy, aloo, any you can think of. Plenty of spice, sauce and chutney mixes, good boxed products (Gits brand is a personal favorite.)
Interesting products:
- Beauty/health section. Plenty of various types of moisturizers and hair conditioners for women, manly-scented shaving creams and old-school hair tonic for the men, plus vitamins and Indian herbal ("ayurvedic") remedies. I'm inclined to recommend you stay away from the Zinda Tilismath, that's some potent stuff held over from the days we drank turpentine as medicine.
- Indian varieties of Lay's chips. The Magic Masala flavor are amazing, but be warned, American "spicy" is nothing compared to Indian "spicy."
- TONS of coffee and tea. They now carry my favorite tea of all time, a hard-to-find black tea called Ketepa Pride from Kenya. I'd also recommend the Cothas coffee with chicory.
- Various types of pan masala and rougher stuff like gutkha. If you have an adventurous friend who chews nasty, old Skoal, have them try some Mirage.
- Cool selection of soda from India, plus others like Pakola, a historic soda from Pakistan that you will either love like no carbonated beverage before it, or think it tastes like dish soap; there is apparently no middle ground here.
- A small southeast Asian section in the back of the store that has things like fish sauce, lots of types of ready-to-cook noodles, and rice vinegar. Most of this area is imported from Thailand.
Overall, love this place, hope it stays forever.
