The Village member, Gabi M, was nice enough to get me a day guest pass so I could work out with her at the ungodly hour of 6:30am. Even though I was technically still on Chicago time it felt early...really early.
She had signed us up for Heidi's TRX class, which isn't included in the membership ($15/person). We don't have to pay for TRX classes at my gym at home, but apparently it's a new class here. When we first checked in they told us the class was taking place on the rooftop of the gym. We headed on up and realized it was outside. Being a Chicagoan I feel silly being worried about being cold in 60 degree weather, but we did hesitate taking the class due to it being outside. Ultimately, we decided to give it a shot and hoped Heidi would get us warmed up quickly. Heidi did just that and within minutes I was loving the temps, not to mention the opportunity to be outside in January. Amazing!!
Rumor has it Heidi is a popular instructor and I can see why. She's challenging, motivating and focused on form so you know you're actually doing the moves correctly. If I lived in the area I'd likely sign up for this class on a weekly basis....or...maybe Heidi's classes that are a bit later in the morning.
The rest of the gym was absolutely packed. There were very few pieces of cardio equipment empty. I guess people in Phoenix have to get up early for workouts when they can't hid behind their coats all day like we do in Chicago.
