| - I abandoned Pho So 1 for this restaurant, and for good reason.
Prices for regular bowls of Pho range anywhere from $8 to a little over $10, and there is a size-up option. For me, a regular bowl has always been big enough to satisfy my hunger. The portion sizes may not be as big as the ones at Pho So 1, but are very well worth the money. The soup is great and doesn't taste as much of MSG as many other pho places do, the meat comes out fresh and red like it's supposed to, and the noodles are neither under- nor overcooked. Of course, soybean sprouts and limes are served with the bowls, as well.
The service is good. I have yet to find an authentic Vietnamese restaurant where the servers actually smile at their customers, but they're getting the job done. Since there is no hostess, and the waiters are often busy, customers often just seat themselves. Once the customer is seated, the servers will quickly come over and take the order. I don't think I've ever waited more than 10 minutes for my food to come out after ordering it. While the customers are eating and talking, the servers are good with keeping the drinks refilled and following up on any other requests.
The bill is paid up at the cash register. There is always someone there, and the cashier is pretty fast, so customers can walk out almost immediately after they finish their food. This is my go-to Pho place. Remember to tip!
