  • I come to review with a humble heart and a calm demeanor. My last review was posted when I was naive to the fact that this company had no idea what they were doing. I'll start off with my initial experience and then move on from there. Over the course of my involvement with king windshields, I have been back to their shop roughly 6 times and on the phone with them an abundance more. **Note I am not picky customer, there were issues with my windshield replacement involving water in the vehicle and I needed the company that caused this issue to fix it. Initial Visit: I took my car here because they sent an overwhelming amount of incentive invitations to my residence. So, upon needing my windshield replaced I thought, KING. Dropped the car off, went and did some things and came back to receive the vehicle. Everything looked normal, blue tape and all. As I drove home, I noticed alot of wind noise that wasn't there before and alot of debris left over from removing the old windshield in my vehicle. Once I arrived at my destination I noticed that the driver side window moulding / weather stripping was not put back on the car properly and there was a gap between the window and the moulding leaving an obvious spot for wind and rain to get in. I did my best to put it back on correctly and noticed the moulding on the front of the car by the hood where the windshield meets the vehicle was loose and needed to be set back down properly. Furthermore, a few days later I washed the vehicle and noticed I had 2 water leaks. Both the driver side window and passenger window were leaking water into the vehicle. This wouldn't normally be an issue caused from a windshield replacement but in this case, they had to take these parts off to access the windshield. I wrote a bad review and the mgr contacted me. 2nd Visit: I took the car in to have the water leak addressed and voiced my concerns about how sloppy this job was handled. They said they fixed the leak by using a compound called butyl to seal off the point in which water comes in the vehicle. They told me this was a design flaw and even gave me some to take home and apply my self if needed Again, me being naive believed what they told me as I entrusted those who were handling my vehicle. 3rd Visit: Water still leaking into the vehicle. Took it to the dealer to have them look at it and they said this was not common in these cars at all. There should be no reason for a water leak except in the event of a poorly done windshield installation. Went back to king and had them do the butyl course of action yet again. After this visit I noticed my automatic window mode in my car would be stopped half way through rolling the windows up and roll right back down. I contacted insurance for a resolution but Geico doesn't work with these people... Go figure. 4th visit: Water still leaking. Took it back for more butyl and more attempts to fix the vehicle. Shop lead tech and the owner took me into the shop and had me sit in my car while they sprayed it with water to show me the leak was gone after this. A few weeks later, more water and the windows fail to roll up on their own. 5th visit: Took my second vehicle to them in good spirits of continued business; 2003 hyundai sonata. Upon this visit I showed the owner that my car was still leaking water. I told him the dealer mentioned broken clips and retainers as a possible cause and he said they would order some and then have it fixed so I can be on my way without any water leaks. (side note: the hyundai has alot of wind noise post windshield replacement at king that it didn't have prior.) 6th and final visit: Had them install the new clips. They brought me into the shop to show me what the problem was. The owner stated it was a design flaw on this vehicle and that they stopped taking cars in like this because of these design "Flaws." He said they will use butyl once again and that I should leave my windows rolled up for 72 hours to ensure a good bond. When I got the car back I noticed that they had damaged the paint of the vehicle this time. Cracked one of my window panels and left butyl sticking all over my window panels. It even appeared that they tried to cover up the damage they did with paint or super glue (See Pictures). After this visit I was livid. I sent the manager an e-mail about the damage and said I am filing a claim with my insurance company. My insurance company filed the claim as vandalism and now I have to pay my $1000 deductible to get this fixed. I took it back to the dealer and they said the windshield was sitting on the car wrong, the amount of butyl in my window weather stripping has completely damaged them and they need to be replaced and there could be more damage once they pull the panels off. Parts cost alone exceed my deductible so I am in for a costly expense here. Design flaw? King Windshields Flaw. I second any other review claiming "lack of care," and damage done to the vehicle. Stay FAR away.
